ISO 14001 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system and can be certified to. It maps out a framework that a company or organization can follow to set up an effective environmental management system.

Designed for any type of organization, regardless of its activity or sector, it can provide assurance to company management and employees as well as external stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved.

ISO 9001:2015 specifies requirements for a quality management system when an organization:

a) needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and

b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

All the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 are generic and are intended to be applicable to any organization, regardless of its type or size, or the products and services it provides.

They are made from 100% renewable materials.

Enviroboard is a paper-like or cardboard-like construction and packaging material, generally manufactured using compressed, ecologically safe, agricultural material.

Most often this means employing the use of high-cellulose waste fibres, such as the post-harvest straw of rice, barley, wheat, and elephant grass or alternatively, a more urban waste stream such as newspaper fibre.

  The Australasian Furnishing Research & Development Institute (AFRDI) is an independent not-for-profit technical organisation, serving buyers and sellers in Australia and in New Zealand, operating a system of quality certification for furniture components and related manufactured products and materials through its Blue Tick Product Certification Scheme.

 The Blue Tick Certification Scheme certifies products which meet certain standards to AFRDI's satisfaction. The assessment of the products is based on the results of performance, function and safety tests, coupled with an evaluation of the quality and finish of a representative sample of product provided by the supplier.

  If a product has been GREENGUARD Certified, it has been tested and scientifically proven to have low chemical emissions, says Scott Steady, product manager for indoor air quality at UL. 

In other words, it’s guaranteed to give off only low levels of volatile organic compounds, or VOCs.

VOCs are carbon-based chemicals (such as formaldehyde) that easily become vapors or gases. Mattresses, flooring and even wall paints give off VOCs. They’re responsible for that new building smell and new car smell, Steady says. Inside your house you may be breathing anywhere from 50 to hundreds of different VOCs at any time.

Indoor air can be two to five times more polluted than outdoor air, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. “We look at the air — it’s empty space, but there are hundreds of chemicals floating around at low levels in our space.

 This is a Type I ecolabel, which is recognised globally as the most robust and credible form of environmental label as it involves multiple criteria and lifecycle considerations.

When you see the GECA ecolabel, you know that the product or service has been independently assessed to meet a wide range of environmental, human health and social impact criteria, while also proving that it performs as promised.

They have developed rigorous standards, following ISO 14024 principles for global best practice in ecolabelling.

The GECA ecolabel can only be used for GECA certified products and services by the GECA licensee.

The GECA ecolabel is also a certification trade mark, giving the public assurance that certified goods or services meet a particular standard. Certification trade marks are assessed and approved by the ACCC and registered by IP Australia

  The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a private, non-profit organization that administers and coordinates the U.S. voluntary standards and conformity assessment system.

 ANSI is not itself a standards developing organization. Rather, the Institute provides a framework for fair standards development and quality conformity assessment systems and continually works to safeguard their integrity.

As a neutral venue for coordination of standards-based solutions, the Institute brings together private- and public-sector experts and stakeholders to initiate collaborative standardization activities that respond to national priorities.
